The WARRIOR CURVES GTA ROAD RALLY
MARCH 22, 2025
On Saturday, March 22 the Alabama Region of the SCCA (ALSCCA) hosted our latest road rally, The Warrior Curves GTA Road Rally. This rally had a different format from prior rallies as it was run as a Game, Tour, and Adventure (GTA) style rally. The goal was to visit all assigned locations in the fewest miles possible. Competitors were sent through Jefferson and Blount counties in search of various sites including schools, a caboose, and a covered bridge. Competitors answered questions relevant to the location and took pictures to prove they were there. Wrong answers and missed sites incurred penalties.
Unlike some time, speed, and distance rallies, any and all technology was allowable. Eight teams comprised of a driver and navigator (and a few passengers checking out the action) started at 9:00am in five-minute intervals with clear skies but a slight chill in the air.
Over the next roughly four hours, the teams completed their tasks as the day warmed up into the mid-70’s. The weather could not have been better. The rally ended with the teams pulling into the Gardendale Cracker Barrel where we wrapped things up with lunch and trophy presentations.
Speaking of trophies, the battle for the win was separated by only ten points from 1st place to 3rd. We awarded separate trophies for drivers and navigators to those top three teams.
We would like to congratulate the following teams:
1st place – Susan Richardson (driver) / Charlie Richardson (navigator)
2nd place – Trey Hutcherson (driver) / Tina Brown (navigator)
3rd place – Jim Farris (driver) / Linda Farris (navigator)
